LA CIUDAD de MÉXICO

La actual capital mexicana, la ciudad de México,  nos muestra su multicultural aspecto de raíces Aztecas y Mayas , con su arquitectura colonial , las modernas construcciones y un ritmo de rancheras con sabor a tequila que nos sumergen en esta mega urbe de proporciones descomunales.

Actualmente conocida como la Ciudad de México y ancestralmente como Tenochtitlán, fue colonizada por Hernán Cortés en 1519 después de duros enfrentamientos con los “Mexicas”, estableciendo en 1521 la capital de la nueva España, que se mantuvo hasta el 27 de septiembre de 1821, cuando tras la guerra de independencia, Agustín de Iturbide, fue coronado como primer emperador de México. Finalmente, durante el siglo XX y tras la revolución mexicana, donde varios líderes ocuparon la capital, fue el Partido Revolucionario Institucional, quién dominó el país de 1929 hasta el año 2000. Actualmente, la Ciudad de México es una megaurbe de más de 9 millones de habitantes, urbanizada sobre una gran planicie que parece no tener fin. Su centro histórico, ofrece una plaza central, “zócalo”, donde se encuentran la preciosa Catedral , el Palacio Nacional y el antiguo Ayuntamiento con su estilo barroco-mexicano.

Adentrándonos en esta plaza de la Constitución, lo primero que nos impacta, es la grandísima catedral Metropolitana cuyas dimensiones de 59mts de ancho, 128mts de largo y 60mts de alto, está dominada por 2 campanarios con 25 campanas. A su lado, el Palacio Nacional, nos muestra los famosos murales de Diego Rivera, representando una cronología de actos sucedidos en la ciudad. A partir de la independencia, se convirtió en la sede del estado y donde reside el presidente.

Los magníficos murales de Diego Rivera, muestran la historia de Ciudad de México hasta su colonización.

Más allá de la plaza del Zócalo, Ciudad de México, ofrece una gran variedad de atracciones turísticas. Callejeando por los alrededores de la plaza, nos encontramos dos edificios que contrastan totalmente. Por un lado, la torre Latinoamericana con sus 204 mts, que en su momento fue el edificio de cristal más alto del mundo y nos ofrece un mirador donde se puede apreciar la increíble extensión de la ciudad. Con un diseño totalmente opuesto a la modernidad de la torre Latinoamericana, podemos admirar el precioso Palacio de Bellas Artes, inaugurado en 1934, y que fue nombrado patrimonio artístico por la UNESCO en 1987.

En su interior, está la escuela de artes plásticas y ofrece un recorrido guiado por su interior. Justo al lado del palacio otro estandarte de la ciudad, es el Hemiciclo a Juárez. Este monumento se dedicó al presidente Benito Juárez, quién lideró la defensa del país durante la invasión francesa de 1862. Otro edificio que merece una visita por la zona, es el Palacio Postal con su maravilloso interior.

El Palacio de Bellas artes

Saliendo del centro, podemos encontrar uno de los símbolos de la ciudad en el monumento al Ángel de la Independencia. Este monumento se encuentra en la larguísima Avenida de la Reforma, de nada más y nada menos 14’7 Km de largo. En dicha avenida, podemos encontrar todo estilo de arquitecturas, desde la más barroca, hasta el edificio más moderno y alto de la ciudad, la torre BBVA Bancomer.

Pero si hay un lugar de visita obligada, para poder admirar el auténtico México antes de la colonización, ese es el Museo Nacional de Antropología. Este museo etnográfico, contiene innumerables piezas, destacando la Piedra del Sol, el calendario solar Azteca más bien conservado. En esta piedra de 3’60 mts de diámetro y 24 toneladas, están descritos los movimientos de los astros, cuando para los Aztecas, los meses duraban 20 días, los años 18 meses y los siglos 52 años.

JOYAS RELIGIOSAS

Ciudad de México, incluye una gran cantidad de iglesias, cuyas arquitecturas, las convierten en auténticas joyas dentro de su amplio patrimonio religioso-cultural. La Catedral Metropolitana, es su pieza más destacada y emblemática, pero otras construcciones como la Basílica de Guadalupe, nos muestran la importancia del legado cristiano, siendo esta, la segunda basílica más visitada del mundo con 20 millones de visitantes, sólo superada por la de San Pedro en Roma.

Esta Basílica, se complementa con una serie de capillas, conventos, templos y panteones muy originales en cuanto a su diseño. Debido a la gran cantidad de fieles que la visitan, se construyó al lado la nueva basílica.

TEOTIHUACÁN

A 78Km de Ciudad de México, se encuentra la grandísima zona arqueológica de Teotihuacán. Esta ciudad, declarada Patrimonio mundial por la UNESCO en 1987, deja impresionado, por sus grandes dimensiones. Y más si tenemos en cuenta que según algunos estudios, sitúan sus construcciones, entre los siglos I-III DC. Su vía principal “la calzada de los muertos”, tiene una anchura de 40mts y una longitud de más de 4Km, que empieza en la pirámide de la Luna y que a medio camino, da paso a la descomunal pirámide del Sol con sus 225mts de base y 63mts de altura.

      Yes I was visiting México DF for 3 days. If you are interested in make a visit, I recomend you spend one day in the main square where you can visit t’he majestic cathedral, the palace with it’s famous frescos of Diego Rivera and also take walk on t’he nearest streets to see the monument of constitution,the amazing palace of fines arts and transamerica building, where you can take t’he best views of t’he city.
      On the second day dedicate to go at the Teotihuacán ruins. This us one of the most interesting place on México, even on whole world.
      Third day is for visit the sourrandings places front centre city, like the national museum, and the impresive complex of t’he cathedral of virgen de guadalupe.
      Finally, if can stay one day more, can get a tipicall experience un Xochimilco , to take a funny little trip on the river and share the time with the local people.
